What is a Dietary Fiber?
Fiber is a part of the plant that provides it shape and strength. When these plant products- cereal, fruit, vegetable etc - are taken as food they are known as dietary fibers.
Dietary fibers are present in insoluble & soluble forms. Insoluble fibers are not digested in our stomach. It passes through the intestine into the colon and then out of your body. This helps in maintaining regular bowel movements & internal cleansing. It reduces constipation, prevent hemorrhoids and improve vigor and vitality. Those particles of the fiber which are soluble, breaks down in the digestive system and bind with bad cholesterol. Thus it prevents heart disease & helps in losing weight.
High Fiber diet is a known as a wonder cure for many of our ailments thanks to the above properties. They should be taken in plenty along with a lot of water regularly. They are not necessarily expensive, as you can find them common, in your neighborhood itself.
